The churning time of your ice cream maker is how long it takes to get the serious work of turning a bunch of scattered ingredients into your desert. The models used by big industrial firms can churn out some ice cream in a mere ten minutes. Your household model probably won’t be capable of this. Don’t worry though, we go over how long all our selected top models take so you’ll know before you by.
Ask any foodie what they’re least favorite part of whipping up a delicious meal is. They’ll tell you the clean up. The same way you might need to break a few eggs to make an omelette, you might end up with a bit of clean up once you’re done making your ice cream. Higher quality models will often be made of quality materials, such as stainless steel, and you will be able to remove different parts of them to make cleaning up a breeze.

What is Ice Cream Made Out Of?
You may think it’s just sugar and cold, but there’s actually quite a lot more to the humble ice cream than you’d think. The first big fact that is that your ice cream is in fact mostly made up of thin air.
Companies which sell cheap, low-cost confectionery will gas their ice cream up with more air to save a few extra pennies.
Here’s a fun way to tell the difference between tub of ice cream or and a cheaper alternative.
Buy two punnets of ice cream, one at a high price and another at a low cost. Hold them both up. You should find that the more costly ice cream feels just a bit heavier than the cheaper one. This is because of the extra air pumped into the cheap brand.
Here’s some basic chemistry on ice cream. First off do you know what an emulsion is? No?
Okay, so an emulsion is when two different kinds of liquid that normally cannot be mixed, are in fact mixed.
If you have two separate fluids that won’t get get together, you add a third element, in the case of ice cream you’ll mix in “air” and the two liquids will merge into one.
What you need now is what’s called an emulsifier.
An emulsifier will give your ice cream it’s velvety smooth texture. In the case of ice cream, it’s egg yolks.
How Does an Ice Cream Maker Work?
This comes down to two different categories of ice cream maker.
First there’s the automatic, which uses a powerful motor in place of regular human elbow grease.
Then there’s the semi-manual, which uses regular human elbow grease, as well as a bit of extra assistance from the world of engineering.
The mechanics of how the mechanisms in your ice cream maker work are pretty straight forward.
There’s a device known as a compressor inside your ice cream maker.
Compressor models are self-cooling, like mini refrigerator-freezers, so you don’t need to pre-freeze the canister. This compressor is there to freeze & churn the ice cream ingredients.
Generally if you’re very concerned about price, a cheaper model of ice cream maker will probably be semi-automatic.
However the very best ice cream makers on the market are always almost automatic so if you want a powerful product that makes the best quality ice cream, go automatic.
There you have it folks, the best ice cream makers of 2019.
You never know when a heat wave might strike, that’s why it’s time to start thinking about getting yourself an ice cream maker.
Hopefully you’ll choose one of these great products and be enjoying your own ice cream every sunny day from here on out.
